The road is rarely the hard part. The first hundred meters are. Plenty of Marrakech riads sit deep inside the medina, down lanes no car can fit through, so the real question becomes where the vehicle can actually meet you and how your bags travel from your door to that spot.

We sort all of that out before the day you travel. Booking means we lock in your exact pickup location, the meeting point if your riad is inside the medina, your time, your camp, and the price in writing. You ride with a licensed driver who knows the Agafay pistes and can talk to you in your own language.

How it works

Reach out on WhatsApp or email and tell us a few things: your riad or hotel name and address, your camp, your date, the pickup time, and how many people and bags you are bringing. We send back a confirmation listing everything, price included, so nothing catches you out later.

Got a hotel on a normal road with car access? The driver pulls up at the entrance at the agreed time, you load up at the curb, and off we go. You will have the driver's name and number ahead of time so you know which car to look for.

Riads inside the medina are a different story, because no car reaches the door. We agree the nearest car-accessible meeting point with you well in advance, usually a known square, a gate, or a street your riad staff will recognize. We spell that point out clearly so your reception can walk you over or send a porter with your luggage.

Come the day, the driver waits at the agreed spot and helps load your bags. We like to have the riad's WhatsApp or a front-desk number when we can get it, so the driver can confirm he has arrived and coordinate those last few minutes on foot. You step out of the lane, the car is already sitting there.

Fixed price and what is included

The price covers the vehicle, not each head, and we put it in writing before you travel. Whatever we quote is what you pay, full stop.

• €80 to most Agafay camps, for a one-way trip or a same-day round trip.
• €100 to the two farthest camps, Nkhila Lodge and Stellar.
• €140 for a round trip on separate days, when you head out one day and come back another.
• A private vehicle, just your group, with door-to-door service to the nearest accessible point at both ends.
• A licensed driver, plus a hand with your luggage.
• The price confirmed in writing before the day, no per-person surcharge, no fuel or piste add-on.

Since it is one flat figure for the car, the cost per person drops the bigger your group gets. Four people in a sedan or six in a minivan all split the same €80 to most camps.

How long does it take?

Figure on up to about an hour from a Marrakech riad or hotel to most Agafay camps, give or take, depending on where you start and what traffic is doing. Medina pickups can tack on a few minutes at the front end, between the short walk to the meeting point and the city traffic that bunches up around the old town.

The drive really comes in two halves. First half is paved road out of Marrakech toward the Agafay region, smooth and uneventful.

The final approach changes character. That last stretch to the camps is an unpaved desert piste, a graded dirt track rather than tarmac. Your driver eases off here, and a vehicle suited to the surface is the difference between a jolting ride and a comfortable one.

Choosing the right vehicle

We match the car to your group, your luggage, and the piste waiting at the end. Send us the headcount and bag count when you book and we will point you to the right option.

• Sedan — good for one to three travelers with normal luggage. Comfortable on the road, fine for the piste in dry conditions.
• Minivan — the usual pick for families and small groups, with room for passengers and several suitcases.
• 4x4 — extra clearance and confidence on the desert piste, handy for the farther camps or simply if you prefer it.
• Coach — for larger groups moving together, with the capacity to shift a sizeable party in one go.

Why book a private transfer instead of a street taxi or app

Flag a street taxi outside your riad and you have no fixed price to Agafay, so you wind up haggling on the curb with your bags in your hands. Many of those drivers do not know the specific camp pistes, and you cannot confirm the fare before you are already committed.

Ride apps cover a desert run like this thinly and unpredictably. A driver who accepts might cancel the moment he sees the destination, or refuse the unpaved final approach altogether. Not where you want to be on the morning of your trip.

Tips

• Pack a small day bag you can carry through the lane yourself, and let the porter or driver take the heavier cases.
• Keep your phone reachable on WhatsApp on travel day so the driver can confirm he has arrived at the meeting point.
• Working to a sunset or check-in deadline at the camp? Tell us, and we build in a buffer.
• Carry a light layer. The desert cools off fast after dark, even when the day was warm.
• For a same-day round trip at €80, settle the return time at booking so the driver knows whether to wait or come back.
